Greetings Comrades, I want this to be a place that I can share my views on subjects of importance to me, with people that might be interested. I'm a punk and I believe in the power of humanity to unite for the common good. I hope you feel the same. Welcome to Moments Of Unity.

Rant!

I have a lot of feelings about intellectuals and people that are ‘leaders’ in the community and shit. People that sit on committees and ‘network’ and ‘try to make a difference’ and such, but are actually just there to get their names on shit. I also dislike ‘university kids’ that are actually down to earth and awesome before they go off to school and become holier-than-thou pretentious asshats after they discover ‘indie culture’ and things that are oh so ‘artistic’ and ‘provocative’ and other shit like that. I mean, it sounds like a generalization.. but.. in my experience, that’s how it’s been. So without much further Ado, I give to you… MY THOUGHTS! :D

Basically what I’m trying to say here, is that you can talk and meet and make all the connections that you want, but unless you act on these connections and actually work towards something, nothing will ever happen. This is the problem with government. ‘Important’ issues ‘merit’ so much debate that the bureaucratic nightmare that discussing them creates will set back any benefit that could ever be gained. It’s got to be easier than that.

The system of government that we have in this country isn’t accurately representative of the voice of ALL of the people. And any time I talk about issues that matter and are constantly swept under the rug, I get to hear bullshit attitudes and comments like ‘well you’re just one voice’ and ‘yeah but things will never change’. Yeah, I AM one voice and I’ve changed my view. So why the hell can’t you? It’s the fuckers like you that make that greater more sweeping change impossible.

And another thing. Don’t talk down to me with your university attitudes and think I’ll somehow be impressed. I’ve probably read more books than you on various subjects. I don’t give a fuck who or what you know. I only care about what you value and what good you want to do for the rest of the world. (and that you’re down to earth, sincere, and not an asshole).

I’m not impressed by the names you drop, the shit you own; the latest fucking phone from Apple doesn’t make you who you are. And neither does your car, by the way, or how much money you make.

And maybe you think you’re more entitled and of value because of all these qualities? Well like I said, unless you’re going to make a change to the bullshit system that is creating a living hell for most of the people in this world, I don’t give a fuck. Go ahead and be another Ad agency suit sitting at a desk finding creative ways to make people value things they’ve never needed and never will. Find a way to make a smaller, yet more powerful, microchip so little Johnny and Suzie don’t have to wait even 5 minutes for their over priced and ultimately worthless Justin Beiber single to download.

When did we stop trying to relate to each other and replace that with trying to impress? I can’t cover up the fact that this fills me with distress at the thought that we get more and more dependant on the poor of the world (that we’ve helped to create) because they’re being paid a dying wage to line the pockets of millionaires.

Also, try harder not to use terms that attempt to make you sound like you know what you’re talking about. Like ‘existentialism’. Or ‘synergy’. Or any of that bullshit you’ve picked up along your journey of becoming another cog on the another gear in the machine. Unless you’re prepared to actually discuss these things on the same level with me.

I hope my years of school didn’t turn me into a pretentious fuck like some people I’ve run into.
