30 Days of ranting: Day 1 - Love

I see we start off with an easy one, lol. Well..

Love is the kind of thing that people make a huge deal of. They make a big deal about finding love, feeling loved, finding someone to love and some to be loved by. What else is more important than love?

Well, I’d start by asking ‘What is love?’.

To me, it’s something that just is. It’s not something that can be found, or created, or forced. You can’t make anyone else feel it, and you can’t force yourself to feel it for anyone or anything.

So then, love, in my definition, is a feeling of connection to another person that is so natural and necessary that it feels impossible to live without them. I can’t think of anything more painful or anything I’d rather not feel than losing someone I love. I’d say the worst things in life are deaths and break-ups.

It would seem that others might have a different view on it. Some people seem to think that attraction and infatuation ARE love. We’re taught (by the media) that to be loved, we have to change who we are, make sacrifices to appeal to others, and sometimes completely change everything about ourselves in order to be loved.

Bullshit.

Maybe you watch tv and see people that everyone loves. Why doesn’t everyone love you like they love Lady Gaga? Well, that’s because it simply isn’t love.

At the end of the day there is only one thing more important than the existence of love.

Loving yourself and being true to who you are. How can we love others without loving ourselves? Impossible.

These are my thoughts on love :)
