Why are these assholes allowed to write. Or breathe. Like, yes, heaven forbid Castro or Chavez (especially Chavez) be allowed to exert any kind of influence on anyone. I mean, public enemy #2 , Chavez is the kind of tyrannical dictator that puts initiatives in place in the interest of the majority (the poor), not ONLY the rich, to make the nation better.
I forgot that the best thing to do when a natural disaster happens is play politics and capitalize on people in a vulnerable position.
But holy fuck, I’m not even close to shocked that the US wants to take any kind of opportunity to move in and install a puppet government or at least help mould Haiti into a place friendly to the ideals of Capitalist (US version) Society, where profit margins > human lives.
It’s great when you turn on the tv and CNN is playing this sad music and showing these horrible images of the dead in the streets, yet how many other places in the world look the same as this? Don’t get me wrong, this is a tragedy. But there are so many other PREVENTABLE tragedies in this world. We should at least show that we care about human life, whether in the case of an earthquake, tsunami, or genocidal civil war.
And how many of these can be stopped? You can’t stop an earthquake, you can only prepare. But you can prevent or at least intervene in genocide and persecution of people. I.e. Sudan, Burma, anywhere in Africa.
Seems like the Project for the New American Centuryis at work here again, gradually shaping the world into a place allowed to operate only under the watchful eye of Big Brother America and American military superiority. Is US global military and economic leadership (read control) really the best thing for everyone? I once heard of a dream called Liberty & Self-determination.
One life, to me, is worth more than anyone can pay.
